Webinar promoting evidence-based policymaking to tackle marine plastic pollution in Asia-Pacific

27 August 2025

On 18 July 2025, a joint webinar co-organised by MOEJ, IGES, OECD, and UNEP/GPML brought together policymakers and practitioners to discuss how better data and knowledge can drive action on plastic pollution across the Asia-Pacific region. The webinar presented progress on reporting national actions and lessons from the G20 Report on Actions against Marine Plastic Litter. Nao Takeuchi and Natalie Harms, from UNEP-GPML and members of the IMDOS Steering Committee, participated in the webinar.

The discussion underscored three priorities that align closely with IMDOS:

  • Harmonised monitoring and comparable indicators,
  • Open, interoperable data to bridge national and regional efforts, and
  • Capacity building to turn evidence into policy

Slides and a full recording are now available on the IGES event page, alongside key resources referenced during the session.

We look forward to continue to working closely with our partners and enhance the synergies with IMDOS’ mission.
