[Job Offer] New position to support the IMDOS Project Office

06 November 2025

We are pleased to share that a new scientist position has been created to support the IMDOS Project Office, funded through the EU Horizon Europe BioGeoSea project.

The position will be hosted by the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IO PAN) in Sopot, Poland. IO PAN is a long-standing partner in global ocean observing and plays a central role in BioGeoSea, which aims to advance several biogeochemical Essential Ocean Variables, including Marine Plastics Debris.

The successful candidate will help to:

  • coordinate IMDOS activities within BioGeoSea,
  • support Task Teams working on method harmonisation, data management and indicators, and
  • contribute to the development of guidance and tools that make marine debris observations more comparable, accessible and policy-relevant.

This role is an important step towards making IMDOS a sustained, operational observing system, and a great opportunity for an early- to mid-career scientist who wants to work at the science–policy interface in an international setting.
